The National Service Scheme is an Indian government sector public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a prominent youth-oriented community service program in India that operates in various colleges and universities across the country. Established in 1969, NSS aims to inculcate the spirit of social service and volunteerism among young students, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the community and the nation as a whole. It operates under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and is administered by the respective universities or colleges.

Our College has two units of NSS ( St. Pushpa & Mothe Teresa)

The Co-ordinators of NSS are Dr. Ruhi Agarwal & Dr. Vandana Tripathi.

Objectives of NSS in College:

Community Engagement: NSS encourages college students to actively engage with local communities and address their needs and issues. This involvement helps students gain a better understanding of the challenges faced by different sections of society.

Personality Development: Through participation in NSS activities, students develop essential life skills such as leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, which play a crucial role in shaping their overall personality.

Social Awareness: NSS projects often focus on addressing various social issues like literacy, health, environment, women empowerment, rural development, and more. By working on these projects, students become more socially aware and sensitive to the needs of the marginalized and underprivileged.

Skill Enhancement: NSS provides opportunities for students to develop specific skills related to community work, such as organizing events, conducting surveys, and implementing various developmental projects.

National Integration: NSS is a platform that brings students from diverse backgrounds together, promoting national integration and fostering a sense of unity among the youth.

Health and Hygiene: Several NSS initiatives center around promoting health and hygiene, conducting awareness campaigns, and providing medical aid to those in need.

Activities and Initiatives:
NSS activities in colleges are planned and executed by student volunteers under the guidance of NSS coordinators and faculty members. Some common activities and initiatives include:

Regular Camps: NSS volunteers participate in various camps, such as special camps, annual camps, and national integration camps, where they work intensively on specific community projects.

Blood Donation Drives: NSS plays a crucial role in organizing blood donation camps to meet the demand for blood in hospitals and emergencies.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: Volunteers actively participate in cleanliness drives, promoting the importance of a clean and hygienic environment.

Literacy Programs: NSS conducts awareness campaigns to promote education and adult literacy, especially in rural areas.

Environmental Initiatives: Volunteers engage in tree plantation drives, waste management projects, and awareness campaigns to protect and preserve the environment.

Skill Development: NSS also focuses on imparting vocational skills to help individuals in the community become self-reliant.
